This place was surprisingly clean and well stocked with everything we might ever need. It had all the silverware, cookware, even the beach chairs, umbrella and snorkeling gear. Even though it's a big building, it was surprisingly quiet. That can go both ways (not the best place for your late-night party). I'd go back anytime.
Very convenient nice facility. Well maintained facility. Will likely stay again.
Condo was nicely updated, clean, comfortable and well stocked. Knutson & Associates were responsive providing detailed information/instructions in a timely manner and super easy to work with every step of the way. Check in and check out was super easy! Condo complex was very well maintained with 2 great pools and common areas where others gathered to enjoy Hawaii coast, to BBQ, watch the sunset. There are also quiet places to read a book or reflection. Location was perfect for us. Only approximately 2km to Kona, 30 min drive south for some excellent snorkeling and 30 mins north for some fantastic state beach parks.
We had an wonderful stay. My wife and my first vacation in two plus years. The place has everything you need. They have a beach and salt water pool right at the edge where the land meets the sea. Clean comfortable and relaxing. We especially liked eating breakfast on the lanai and swimming in the pool. The air conditioner is locked at 75° which is slightly warmer than I would want but you gotta save energy so I understand. We would totally return to this place and the management is quick to communicate when there are issues and we had a few so it was good to be able to talk to someone. And it’s really close to da poke shack!
Overall a nice well stocked condo. Perfect condition of the condo itself and of the whole property. Very convenient check in and check out. Helpful management.
There are some issues that is not under management control, but I want to mention them. 1. The salt water pool was closed for maintenance during our stay (was not a big deal for us, but I know that some kids prefer pools to the ocean. There is another pool with the regular water, which was operational) . 2. The bedroom window faces elevator entrance (elevator is outside of the building. Not many people use it, but once in a while could be irritating). 3. There is some mechanical sound from the courtyard (like 50% of time), so when you sit on the balcony, it could bother you. The condos in the same complex that are closer to ocean do not have this issue. and you can use cabana instead of your balcony.
Considering price to quality ratio, I would still rent this condo and enjoy my vacation.
The rental wad great other than the AC not working first night and not being able to go below 75 degrees as thermostat is fixed so it don't go below. That is pretty warm for an AC in my opinion should note that in listing. Water turned off 2nd day for maintenance. If it was not for residence being so friendly would of rated lower.
Great location, amenities, price. Very happy with our stay. The mattress pad was not very comfortable and the sheets were subpar. Everything else was good.
We did write a lengthy note to Blake re our stay. Have him access that
email so we don't have to repeat everything. Basically, Casa Emdeko is a lovely, friendly complex to stay in. We'd come back.
The unit, 204, had pros and cons. Please check the email.
This is a nice place to stay. The beach area at sunset was a regular visit. It was quiet for the most part, the grounds were well kept.
In the condo, everything was provided. A nice upgrade was a USB outlet in a small nook. The balcony was pleasant.
The management responded when a couple of of problems came up, tv remote and blender, overall, we would recommend staying here.
This property is exactly as described. The whole Casa De Embdeko complex is fantastic from the salt water pool to the private beach. We had everything we needed in unit 204. I would definitely stay here again on a return trip to Kona
The unit was very nice and clean.
This was the most perfect place to stay in Kona for a week!! Close to everything but far enough to be secluded.
We are return guests to unit 204. It meets our needs for breakfast in the morning and prepping dinner at night (we grill nightly and eat down by the pool). It is well equipped and had more beach items than two years ago (cooler, umbrella, chairs, extra snorkel gears, 5 beach towels, etc.). The kitchen, while full of MANY random items and beyond dull knives, is well stocked and has everything one needs. The pantry had basic spices, oils and S & P which is VERY helpful. The unit is clean and modern and the bathroom is great for a family of 4. The kids slept comfortably on the pull-out sofa. The master bedroom is cozy and comfy. Truly, we spend so little time in the until, we choose Casa De Emdeko for the outdoor space (pools, grilling area, gardens, etc.) and it's location. Unit has hook up for washer/dryer, but doesn't have one in unit, the public laundry is close by and easy to use, so that wasn't an issue. I'm sure we will stay again when we come back to HI.
Condo was clean and A/C worked great. Pools were fantastic and location was very convenient. Staff were very accommodating

I loved the 1 bedroom condo and the complex. The rental had everything that I needed: a large kitchen, renovated bath, quiet, and a nice patio. HVAC was chilly. The owners are nice to supply a beach chair, snorkel, boogie board, etc. in their linen closet. The condo complex has two pools, and the waterfront one is saltwater. I relaxed on the small beach there. There are also large (clean) grills for everyone to use. Beautiful sunsets. You can walk one mile into town. I encourage people to do that because even though Kona was kind of dead in September 2021, there is nowhere to park. Casa de Emdeko also has limited parking. There were not a lot of guests and parking filled up each night by 8:00 pm in the gated/secure section. You can park in the front lot near the on-site convenience store. I don't know how they handle the high season. As for covid restrictions, people weren't too aggro or pushy about wearing masks indoors. I chose to eat outdoors or made reservations since some places now have limited seating. But, I find it very unhelpful that Hawaii's governor told tourists to stay home even though they are required to be vaxxed or covid-tested at very selective labs before traveling. That's a lot to ask of visitors, especially when Hawaii hit its "goal" of 70% vaxxed. Of course, Governor David Ige changed that "goal" once Hawaii hit that. It didn't fit his narrative anymore. He's constantly moving the bar. I think that he's doing everything to be politically convenient. Certain groups aren't getting the vax, yet Ige is blaming his opponents. Meanwhile, Hawaiians want tourism and the Big Island is shell shocked that Kona Ironman World Championships were cancelled again in 2021. That gets me to the cleanliness of the condo. No cleaning service during stays. I think that I ran out of trash bags, too. It would be nice to get daily cleaning. That's my only ding against the condo. Also, it needs a better parking sys
We were not sure what to expect when we arrived at the property. There was no one to greet us and figure out what to do on our own. We did receive a detailed letter before hand, so that was a big help. The room was nice, however, the bed was not the most comfortable. Loved the fact there was a kitchen, the balcony was amazing and we used it every day. we would have liked a view of the ocean, but it was easy to get to. We liked there was a beach, and two pools (one of which was salt water). We loved that we had a great view of the sunset from our little beach each day.
I visited Hawaii when I was in college and love it so much. Every since we got married I had wanted to take my wife to Hawaii, but we really couldn't afford it. Forty years pass and I finally felt like we could afford it. I bought the plane tickets, and rented the condo and car via Orbitz. All three of these parts of our trip were super. We loved Casa de Emdeko 204. Situated on the beach, not at all far from downtown, on the lowest road where all the nice restaurants and cool hang-out are. It is a coded gate-protected community. The doors of the condo are locked with a code as well. The condo is clean. It looks beautiful, like it had recently been renovated. Nice amenities, such as kitchen ware, linens, towels, hair dryer of course, great wifi, great AC with a fan in living room and bedroom, nice balcony with table and chairs, great TV with all the channels you would want see. We loved the Cabana area on the ocean front, lit up with Tiki torches in the evening, there are gas grills at our disposition, great view of sunset, with a traditional conch-horn-blowing ceremony at every sunset. The staff and permanent residents are kind and helpful, with creating a family-like community spirit. I'm sure there are other positives. We loved our stay at Casa de Emdeko.
This is a great place to stay and has everything needed. The grounds are beautiful and lush, nice cabana and barbecue area and excellent pools. Beautiful sunset every night. The 204 unit is very nice and well equipped. Loved the big shower, nice new appliances and lanai. We intend to return to Casa next year and would certainly recommend this location to our friends and relatives.
Our family very much enjoyed our stay at casa de Emdeko! The unit was clean and well equipped. The one bedroom was ideal and felt spacious, even for a family of four. The unit had plenty of towels (beach included), snorkel fins and snorkels, beach chairs and a beach umbrella, a well equipped kitchen and some basic supplies (dishwasher tabs, dish soap, salt, pepper, and some basic spices, sweetener, etc). A cooler would have been handy to have in unit for guests, lucky for us a lovey neighbor loaned us one for the week! The residents were extremely friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the Oceanside pool and grilled almost nightly. It was lovey to enjoy conversation, cocktails and sunsets with visitors and residents in the evening. The "beach" was great as well. The pool upgrades this summer will be nice. The gardens were gorgeous. Everyone followed COVID protocols in common areas and the property was very quite at night. Knutson was extremely helpful with deciding on the best area and unit for our family. Casa is very centrally located and we found getting around Kona and the area very easy!
We had a very good time at the Casa De Emdeko #204. The unit was clean, set up and very comfortable to stay in as well. Centrally located, it provided us an easy home base in which to see all the sites we wanted. The salt water pool was fantastic and sunsets on the wall were spectacular. We would definitely stay again on our return trip.
Nice little garden condo, just remodeled very nicely. Clean and quiet. While the complex is dated (as are almost all of them along Ali'i), the grounds are impeccably kept. We loved the oceanfront pool, beach area, and dining area. It's also a very short walk to the public saltwater pool, which is a lot of fun when the surf is up.
Property description was accurate- beautiful location, loved the closeness to ocean & the salt water pool, and the central garden. Had community feeling. The property was very clean and updated.Manager was available, but didn't feel the need to bother him with little items. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. In fact, we'd love to return! Really enjoyed beaches, a few restaurants with ocean view, and The Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory!
We have been staying at Casa de Emdeko for over 10 years in many different units at times and said we would always stay in Block B but this unit was available so Switched sides. Found it quieter, easy accessible and did not miss the heat of the day. The unit is high end beautifully decorated and there is nothing you needed, from linens to dishes etc. There is a handy coffee bar and the whole unit perfectly setup. All newly done and the flooring so easy to keep clean. Blake and staff at Knutson and Associates will help you immediately if you needed any help. The grounds are well kept. Very much enjoyed stay !
The place was newly remodeled and was great. They ONLY little tiny issue we had was the remotes for the fans controlled both rooms and we thought they were broken until we realized if one of us turned ours up it controlled the others and they would turn it down. Otherwise the place was awesome! Truly easy to get in and out of and the communication was great when we had any questions!
We spent two wonderful weeks in #204 Casa de Emdeko. Nice clean unit with everything you need. We appreciated two pools and garden with the fountain, watched sunset from well kept beach.
just to relax
This is a great Unit, newly updated with very nice amenities. The unit was extremely clean and came with a little starter kit for your stay with toiletries and kitchen accessories. There are extra pillows, beddings and towels. The property has an outstanding common area with BBQ area, gazebo, two pools (one with oceanview but it was closed for majority of our week for maintenance) and a beach sand area with beach loungers. I would have given 5 stars overall but the unit was missing a dining table. There is a breakfast counter with bar stools which was not very comfortable to have dinner on. All in all a great placefor vacay. We would stay again.
We stayed at Unit 204 in Casa De Emdeko for 10 days in January/15. The building and grounds are well located, well maintained and include all of the amenities. The Unit itself was, other than new carpet and uncomfortable new furniture, was in urgent need of renovation and deep cleaning - particularly in the bathroom, where mold surrounded the shower door and most of the fixtures displayed the long term erosion of the hard water.
Unit needs updating. otherwise everything was as described. Great location
Casa de Emdeko is a beautiful and beautifully landscaped/maintained property that had everything we could have wished for. The common areas with waterfalls, flowers and birds were a delight. The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks was so great for us inlanders. The bbq/outdoor dining area was a perfect option to dining on our deck and we enjoyed the other vacationers. We didn't take advantage of the pools. The laundry room was very convenient. Walking to town was easy, and walking to small beaches was just 1/2 mile. Our unit, 204, was equipped with everything we needed and a great value. That value may be because it could use some TLC like carpet cleaning, updating in decor, and fixes for little quirks like: an occasionally running toilet, a shower and kitchen sink that often dripped despite our best efforts, and that bright light outside the bedroom window. Blackout shade! But it was spacious enough for 2 and I made good use of the kitchen. We'd definitely come back to Casa de Emdeko.
This was a lovely location and fine rental. The strict limits on the ventilation system were frustrating but overall we really enjoyed the stay. The cleaning and other fees felt a bit excessive considering what was provided.
The rental unit was clean and comfortable. It does need some updates on the kitchen cupboards and bathroom, but there was nothing wrong with the way it was. The air conditioner leaked a bit so we put a bowl under it so the water did not keep dripping on the carpet floor and the faucet for the cold water in the shower is not working as it stipped and needs to be replaced.
Great vacation. Only disappointment was that we DID NOT have Wi-Fi in the condo. We always keep in touch with family & friends while on vacation via the Internet.
Everything was fine and up to expectations. BUT no wi-fi was a real problem for me.
No check-in to be found on premises, information about 100% self-checkin could be much clearer
I was traveling for 3 weeks from O'ahu, over Maui, to Big Island. The last week I was staying at the Casa De Emdeko. The accommodation was great, equipped with everything (even snorkeling gears for two persons was available). A minor drawback was, that the pool was under construction. This was not a problem for me, since I do not like swimming in the pool when the ocean is directly next to your door.

All in all it was a perfect good decision to book there and I can recommend with a good ranking.
Overall it was a decent room for the price. The location and salt water pool are awesome. Although, there were a few issues... some of the cleaning was overlooked, and the mattress needs replacing, and there was construction. But management staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
I have been staying at various units at the Casa for 20 years now. It is very well maintained, quiet, and has a great location. Unit 204 has a good feel to it and I like where it is situated on the grounds because it is shaded in the morning. The particular unit I was in - 204 needs some kitchen towels as well as beach towels.
A nice restful week, in the sun, and by the sea.
Accommodation was clean and well prepped, for our arrival.
We could have done with more towels, and the sheets were needing replacing. No instructions for the TV which would have been helpful. Information re buses and that they don't run on Sunday would have helped . It is a few Km's from central Kona. We used Taxis and they were efficient and cheap. We did enjoy our stay.
I ENJOYED MY STAY,THE UNIT 204 NEEDS A UPDATE, TV VERY DATED AND THE CARPET NEEDED CLEANING. I WILL STAY AGAIN, BUT NOT IN 204.
internet would have been nice. cost and value
OK.
Unit was not in good condition overall, certainly not like the unit we stayed in at same facility last year. However, we enjoyed being at Casa de Emdeko again for their nice location in Kona, and the over all area amenities offered. We would like to stay there again. But definitely in a different unit.
This was our first stay at this property and we were pleasantly surprised. It is in a good location, clean, and well maintained.
